19th Century French Louis XVI Carved Giltwood Overlay Mirror with Floral Crest
$4,975
About
Standing nearly five feet tall, this antique wall mirror was crafted in France circa 1860 and captures the refined elegance of the Louis XVI style. The carved giltwood frame is topped with an elaborate crest featuring a central palmette, scrolling acanthus, and floral garlands, all highlighted by the original gold leaf finish, now gracefully worn to a soft, time-aged patina. The tall rectangular silhouette is accentuated by pierced giltwood side overlays, showcasing neoclassical motifs such as oval medallions and beaded borders. The original mercury glass plate displays light foxing, adding depth and authentic antique character. The back retains its original panel construction, with later hardware added for secure hanging. Measuring 32 inches wide by 57.5 inches high and 5.5 inches deep, this stately Louis XVI antique mirror makes a commanding statement above a console, mantel, or in a formal entryway. Excellent condition commensurate with age and use.
