19th Century French Majolica Barbotine Cache Pot with Maskaron Handles
$995
About
Add a vibrant decorative touch to your interior with this antique majolica cache pot. Crafted in France, circa 1880, the oval jardinière is richly modeled in high relief with a naturalistic aquatic motif, featuring reeds, cattails, water lilies, and small creatures set against a deep cobalt ground. Each end is adorned with a sculptural mascaron face, adding a whimsical and distinctly French character to the composition. The piece stands on an integral shaped base with repeating molded decoration, all hand-painted in vivid tones of green, blue, ochre, and earthy accents. The interior is glazed in a soft celadon tone, contrasting beautifully with the richly textured exterior. The planter is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with minor glaze variations and light wear consistent with its age. A wonderful piece for displaying plants or as a standalone decorative centerpiece. Dimensions: 15.5″W x 9.5″D x 6.25″H
