$1,400
About
This elegant antique French jardinière, crafted in the Porcelaine de Paris tradition and dating to the late 19th century, circa 1890, reflects the decorative sophistication and painterly artistry for which Paris workshops were renowned. Oval in form and raised on four sculptural feet, the vessel is richly hand painted with a continuous pastoral landscape depicting a shepherd guiding his flock through rolling countryside, accented by trees, distant architecture, and softly shaded skies rendered in delicate, nuanced tones. The interior is finished in a clean white glazed surface, ideal for use as a planter or decorative cachepot. The exterior is further enhanced with fine gilt banding along the rim and rests on ornate feet highlighted with black enamel, gilt scrollwork, and shell motifs, all characteristic of Paris decorative production of the period. The painted decoration retains excellent color and detail, while the gilding shows gentle, honest wear consistent with age. This antique jardinière is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use and remains a highly decorative and visually engaging example of late 19th century French craftsmanship. Perfect as a centerpiece on a console, commode, or dining table, this Porcelaine de Paris jardinière brings timeless French elegance and pastoral charm to both traditional and refined contemporary interiors. Dimensions: 12″W x 8″D x 7″H.
