Early 19th Century French Wall Terracotta Lavabo Fountain
$650
About
Decorate a entry wall or hallway with this elegant antique terracotta fountain. Crafted in France, circa 1830, the decorative reservoir features a classical male profile rendered in bas-relief within a medallion, while a vibrant tavern scene unfolds beneath. The sides are adorned with playful cherubic motifs, lending a whimsical and artistic touch. The fountain is in good condition commensurate with age and use, with a reddish brown color palette. The wall sculpture could also be used as a unique flower vase. Some small chips see detailed images. The wash basin or lavabo was a typical piece found in French homes before running water was available. It consists normally of an ewer or container of some kind to pour water, and a bowl to catch the water as it falls off the hands. 12.5″W x 6.5″D x 20″H
