Early 20th Century French Carved Walnut Folding Magazine Stand or Map Rack
$1,300
About
Crafted in France circa 1920, this elegant folding display stand reflects the Moorish Revival style with its exotic architectural lines and intricate detailing. Made of solid walnut, the piece features two finely carved panels with arcaded cutouts and turned baluster spindles, framed by repeating roundel motifs and topped with foliate scroll finials. Measuring 25 inches wide by 34.5 inches high and opening to a depth of 21 inches, the structure folds flat to just 5.5 inches deep for convenient storage. Its sculptural V-shaped form is ideal for displaying large-format books, maps, or periodicals in a study, gallery, or reading room. The warm walnut patina is richly developed, enhancing the carved details and lending a refined vintage character. Excellent condition commensurate with age and use.
