Early 20th Century French Sevres Gilt Ormolu and Porcelain Jewelry Table Box

About
Decorate a vanity, dresser, or tabletop with this elegant antique porcelain jewelry box. Crafted in France circa 1920, the shaped rectangular box features a graceful bombe form with scalloped contours and an ornate gilt bronze mount fitted around the lid and base. The exterior is finished in a rich ruby-red ground lavishly embellished with hand-painted gilt scrollwork, lattice motifs, floral garlands, and Rococo-inspired ornamentation.
The domed lid is beautifully hand painted with a detailed view of the famous Château de Chambord, the celebrated Renaissance château located in the Loire Valley. The architectural composition captures the château’s distinctive skyline of towers, lanterns, and chimneys, set within a romantic landscape of trees, rolling lawns, and a tranquil water feature. The scene is framed by elaborate gilt decoration which contrasts elegantly against the vibrant red porcelain ground.
The interior is finished in pristine white porcelain and decorated with a delicate hand-painted floral bouquet at the bottom, adding an unexpected touch of refinement when opened. The antique box retains its original gilt bronze hinge and clasp and showcases the exceptional artistry associated with fine Sevres porcelain production during this period.
A wonderful decorative accessory for storing jewelry, keepsakes, letters, or treasured objects, this antique table box combines rich color, fine gilding, and one of France’s most iconic architectural landmarks. The piece is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with vivid hand-painted decoration and beautifully preserved gilt accents.
