Decorate a desk or study with this charming antique desk accessory set crafted in France, circa 1920. Mounted on a rich oval walnut base, the ensemble features a coordinated group of cast spelter elements, combining both decorative and functional pieces in a cohesive composition.
The set includes a pair of candle holders with removable glass inserts, each framed by pierced and garlanded mounts with classical motifs. At the center stands a small letter holder adorned with a relief of a bird within a laurel wreath, adding a refined neoclassical touch. In front, a small vide-poche tray with shell and floral detailing offers a practical catchall, accompanied by a finely cast reclining dog figure, bringing a touch of character and whimsy to the piece.
The warm walnut base displays a nicely aged patina with visible grain, while the spelter elements have developed a rich, darkened finish consistent with age. The underside reveals original construction with brass tacks and hardware.
