This evocative antique hunting platter captures the atmosphere of a traditional European sporting scene with rich color and finely rendered detail. Crafted in Germany circa 1920, the large circular ceramic plaque depicts two hunters resting in an open landscape following a successful deer hunt. One figure sits smoking a pipe while his companion pauses beside two attentive hunting dogs, creating a quiet narrative moment after the chase.

Dominating the foreground is an impressive stag with a large branching rack of antlers, while a hunting rifle rests nearby against the grassy hillside. The surrounding countryside is painted in an earthy palette of deep greens, warm browns, ochre, and beige, giving the composition the romantic character often associated with Black Forest and Alpine hunting imagery of the period.

The platter retains a warm, naturally aged surface and is in good antique condition commensurate with age and use. Minor scattered losses and small paint chips are visible, as shown in the detailed photographs, and contribute to its authentic timeworn character. A hanging wire is fitted to the reverse for easy wall installation.
