This impressive French hand-thrown terracotta planter was crafted in Anduze and bears the signature of La Madeleine à Anduze pottery. Modeled in the traditional campana form and raised on a circular pedestal base, the jardinière features a wide rolled rim and a gracefully tapering body adorned with molded medallions and scrolling garlands of roses in relief. The exterior is finished in a softly antiqued cream glaze with hand-applied green and warm terracotta accents, creating a beautifully weathered patina that evokes classic Provençal garden décor. The relief decoration is lively and dimensional, with stylized floral swags flanking circular cartouches. Subtle distressing and tonal variation across the surface enhance its rustic character while maintaining a refined decorative presence. The interior remains in natural fired terracotta and includes a central drainage hole, making the piece fully functional for planting. Stamped inside “La Madeleine Poterie Saint-Amand à Anduze”, this example reflects authentic French craftsmanship and traditional Anduze production techniques.
