A proud rooster silhouette framed by sweeping scrollwork gives this distinctive chandelier its unmistakable French country character. Crafted in France circa 1980, the six-light fixture is constructed of hand-forged iron and designed with an airy architectural framework of scrolling elements, twisted vertical supports, suspended chain links, and gracefully curved arms.

At the center, a finely cut rooster stands within a circular medallion surrounded by additional forged scrolls. Known in France as the coq gaulois, the rooster has long been associated with vigilance, pride, and rural tradition, making it an especially fitting decorative motif for a provincial-inspired interior.

Six candle-form lights rise from shallow iron bobeches and are fitted with decorative candle sleeves. The hand-forged iron has been polished to a silvery finish, enlivened by warm gilt undertones that emphasize the hammered texture, irregularities, and artisan-made character of the metalwork. The reflective surface gives the chandelier a lighter, more refined appearance while preserving its rustic appeal.

Newly rewired to U.S. electrical standards and ready for installation, the chandelier includes a coordinating canopy, hanging loop, and chain. It would be especially striking above a breakfast table, kitchen island, dining table, or in an entryway. The Chanticleer chandelier is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use and adorns a rich polished iron patina with some gilt accents.
