18th Century French Louis XVI Wrought Iron and Bronze King Size Headboard
$8,100
About
Create an unforgettable focal point in a master bedroom with this extraordinary antique French headboard crafted from an 18th-century architectural ironwork element. Created in France circa 1780 and adapted from a monumental wrought iron gate or balcony, the oversized piece combines dramatic scale with exceptional hand-forged craftsmanship and richly sculptural Louis XVI ornamentation.
The arched iron frame is embellished throughout with gilt bronze Fleur-de-Lys finials, scrolling ribbons, floral rosettes, acanthus leaves, and elegant forged scrollwork. At the center, a large laurel wreath medallion encloses an intricate monogram surrounded by hand-carved floral motifs and ribbon detailing, lending the composition a regal, château-inspired presence. The contrast between the dark forged iron and softly aged gilt bronze creates remarkable depth and architectural character.
The lower portion has been newly upholstered in a deep tufted leather-style fabric in a rich oxblood tone, offering both visual warmth and comfortable support for reclining. Monumental in scale and weighing over 200 pounds, this antique headboard was custom designed to accommodate a king-size bed and is wider than a California King, making it ideal for a grand primary suite, luxury ranch home, or dramatic European-inspired interior.
This one-of-a-kind statement piece is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a beautifully aged patinated finish throughout.
