Mid-Century French Louis XIII Walnut Monastery Refectory Farm Table
$18,000
About
Built in the Pyrenees circa 1960 using reclaimed 18th century walnut, this impressive antique monastery refectory table reflects the bold architectural presence of Louis XIII design. The wide and long rectangular top is framed with a dark inlaid border and accented at each corner with iron diamond motifs. A forged iron band wraps the apron, punctuated with decorative iron mounts, adding strength and character. The table rests on two substantial pedestal supports with fluted Greek column forms, raised on scroll-carved trestle bases and joined by a thick central stretcher. The silhouette is grounded and monastic. The walnut showcases a beautiful patina with intentional distress, surface wear, old marks, and a ton of character throughout. The rich honey and amber tones, combined with the natural imperfections of the reclaimed wood, give the piece warmth and authenticity true to an antique refectory table. A grand, wide and long dining table that would easily seat 12 guests, perfect for a large family dining room, ranch house, or mountain retreat. Excellent condition commensurate with age and use. Dimensions: 102″W x 39″D x 31″H
