About
This decorative antique 13-piece game bird serving set was crafted in Limoges, France, circa 1960, by Paulhat Luce. The complete porcelain service includes twelve round dinner plates and one large oval serving platter, each embellished with colorful scenes of game birds in their natural habitats.
The twelve plates feature four different hunting-themed compositions, with three plates of each design depicting pheasants, partridges, woodcock, and other wild birds. The detailed illustrations are set against picturesque countryside landscapes, surrounded by lush vegetation, flowering plants, and soft pastel skies. The large oval serving platter features a striking scene of a colorful pheasant standing in a woodland clearing, with another bird flying overhead. Each piece is further decorated with delicate gilt fern motifs around the border, small gold floral accents, and a fine gilt rim. The oval platter is fitted with integrated side handles highlighted in gold.
The underside of each piece bears the green circular manufacturer’s stamp reading “Porcelaines Paulhat Luce, Limoges-France.” Paulhat Luce was a French porcelain producer and decorator associated with the celebrated Limoges porcelain industry, renowned for its fine white porcelain and decorative tableware.
Ideal for entertaining, a traditional French country dining room, or display in a hunting lodge, this antique porcelain service combines sporting subject matter with refined French craftsmanship.
The 13-piece set is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, retaining vibrant colors and rich gilt decoration.
