Pair of 18th Century French Aubusson Tapestry and Velvet Bolster Pillows
$1,600
About
Decorate a sofa, bench, or antique daybed with this elegant pair of French decorative bolster pillows. Each pillow is made with 18th century Aubusson tapestry fragments, showcasing richly woven floral and foliate motifs in shades of deep blue, gold, ochre, cream, and soft brown. The front panels are framed with coordinating blue velvet borders, gold braid trim, metallic gimp, and decorative tassel fringe, giving the pair a luxurious layered surface with wonderful texture and Old World character.
The backs are upholstered in solid deep blue velvet, allowing the pillows to be displayed either with the tapestry fronts forward for a formal decorative statement, or reversed for a quieter, tonal look. The elongated rectangular form makes them ideal for styling across a settee, at the ends of a banquette, on a French daybed, or layered with larger pillows on a bed. In very good condition commensurate with age and use, with minor wear, fading, and textile irregularities consistent with antique Aubusson fragments and decorative trim.
