Pair of 19th Century French Directoire Carved Painted Demilune Console Tables
$7,900
About
Decorate an entryway or salon with this elegant pair of antique painted demi-lune consoles, crafted in northern France circa 1880. Each half-moon table stands on four tapered and fluted legs, accented at the shoulders with carved diamond-shaped rosettes, reflecting the restrained neoclassical influence of the Directoire period.
The gently curved aprons are decorated with a series of geometric diamond motifs framed by fine linear carving, adding rhythm and architectural balance to the design. The tops follow the demi-lune form and are dressed in a softly aged painted finish, showcasing a beautiful layered patina in a classic gray and white palette.
These antique consoles are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with minor wear to the painted surface consistent with their age, enhancing their authenticity and charm. Narrow and versatile, they may be placed together to form a circular center table, used individually in an entry, or positioned on either side of a window or doorway for a balanced decorative statement.
