Pair of 19th Century French Hand Painted Desvres Faience Vases with Lids
$2,600
About
This elegant pair of antique French faience covered vases was crafted in Desvres, France circa 1870. Each vase features a faceted octagonal body with gently waisted proportions, richly decorated with finely painted polychrome floral cartouches framed by scrolling foliate motifs. The vibrant palette of deep cobalt blue, warm ochre, soft green, and orange accents is characteristic of Desvres faience production during the late 19th century. Both vases retain their original fitted lids, each topped with a charming hand-modeled bird finial perched atop a floral knop, a decorative detail frequently associated with Desvres workshop designs of the period. The surfaces display crisp, symmetrical decoration with excellent glaze depth and saturation, reflecting the high quality of craftsmanship and ornamental intent. The pair is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with light surface wear consistent with age and no significant losses. These antique vases are ideal for display on a mantel, console, or as a striking symmetrical statement in a dining room or entry. Dimensions: 9″W x 9″D x 21.5″H (each)
