Pair of French Hand-Painted Porcelain Coastal Plates Signed Francis
$695
About
Bring color and coastal charm to an interior with this decorative pair of antique porcelain plates. Crafted in Paris, France circa 1870, each round plate is finely hand-painted with an atmospheric seaside scene along the coast of Brittany. The compositions depict fishermen and women gathering shrimp and mussels near the shoreline, with sailing boats, rocky outcrops, and expansive skies creating a picturesque maritime setting.
The two scenes are complementary yet individually composed, forming an appealing pair when displayed together. Delicately scalloped rims edged in gilt frame the colorful landscapes and lend the plates an elegant finishing touch. Each work is signed “Francis” on the front and bears the “Martin Paris Grenelle” mark on the reverse.
Displaying detailed brushwork and a rich, well-preserved palette, these large porcelain plates would make striking wall decorations in a dining room, kitchen, living room, or coastal-inspired interior. Both antique plates are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use and are fitted with later wire hangers on the reverse for easy display.
Dimensions: 12″ Diameter each.
