Crafted in Italy circa 1880, this elegant pair of antique candlesticks reflects the refined architectural vocabulary of the Neoclassical and Louis XVI styles. Each tall candle holder stands on a carved tripod base terminating in boldly scrolled feet. The tapered pedestal is embellished with delicate incised decoration and supports a slender, fluted stem punctuated by molded collars and finely carved acanthus-leaf motifs.

The candlesticks retain their original polychrome decoration, combining softly aged light-gray and cream paint with gilt and silvered accents. Subtle variations in color, natural rubbing, and areas of surface wear reveal layers of the original finish and give the pair an especially appealing patina. Square candle platforms and tall candle-form sleeves complete the balanced, vertical design.

Both candlesticks are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use. Minor paint losses, age-related wear, and surface irregularities are consistent with their 19th-century origin and contribute to their authentic character. Their substantial scale makes them well suited for display on a large mantel, console, buffet, or altar table.
