Pair of Blue and White Faience Royal Sphinx Delft Ginger Jars with Foo Dog Lids

$1,800

About

Add classical charm to your décor with this exquisite pair of lidded Delft ginger jars by Royal Sphinx, Maastricht. Hand-painted in Holland circa mid-20th century, these striking blue and white faience vases feature a rich floral motif with scrolling foliate cartouches enclosing blooming peonies and chrysanthemums on an ivory ground. Each antique jar is surmounted by a domed lid topped with a whimsical Foo dog finial, symbolizing protection and good fortune. Made for Royal Sphinx by Boch, the jars are signed Delfts and marked with both the Royal Sphinx Maastricht sphinx hallmark and the Boch crest, confirming their origin and quality. The cobalt palette is bold and beautifully applied, with intricate patterning around the neck and shoulder that adds visual texture and depth. In excellent condition commensurate with age and use, these lidded vessels make an impressive pair for mantel display, sideboards, or flanking an entry console. Timeless, decorative, and collectible. Measures: 9″Diameter x 17.5″H
