Pair of Early 20th C. Asian Imari Porcelain Vases with Floral and Bird Motifs
$1,500
About
Bring vibrant color and refined craftsmanship to your interior with this elegant pair of antique porcelain vases crafted in the Imari style, circa 1920. Likely of Japanese or export origin, each vessel features a baluster form with a flared, scalloped rim accented in gilt. The richly decorated surface combines traditional Imari palette tones of cobalt blue, iron red, and gilt, showcasing intricate floral sprays, stylized foliage, and exotic birds in medallion reserves.
The upper body is adorned with finely detailed scrolling patterns and polychrome enamel decoration, further enhanced by applied sculptural elements including blossoming flowers and vine-form handles in relief, adding depth and texture to the composition. The lower register displays geometric and floral borders with precise hand-painted detail, demonstrating skilled craftsmanship throughout.
The underside reveals a red square mark, adding to the decorative appeal and suggesting Asian origin. Each vase is fitted with small protective pads at the base.
This tall pair is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and would make a striking decorative statement on a console, mantel, or as part of a symmetrical display.
