Pair of Early 20th C. French Cast Stone Bacchian Figural Garden Planters
$3,500
About
Decorate a garden, terrace, or entryway with this charming pair of antique French cast stone planters. Crafted in France circa 1920, each rectangular jardinière is carved on all four sides with a continuous relief frieze of putti harvesting grapes, and framed by braided trim. The playful figures are shown gathering and stomping bunches in baskets and barrels beneath a trellised grapevine border, evoking classical Bacchic imagery. Each piece features a warm, weathered patina with subtle variations in tone, highlighting the depth and artistry of the carving. The interior includes a central drainage hole for functionality. Measuring 9.75 inches high by 31 inches wide and 11 inches deep, these planters are ideal for seasonal floral displays or small shrubs. Sturdy and sculptural, they offer excellent decorative impact and are in very good condition commensurate with age and use. Suitable for indoor or outdoor settings.
