Pair of Early 20th Century Landscape Oil Paintings Signed C. Jonnevold
$950
About
Decorate a study, living room, or library with this elegant pair of antique landscape paintings. Created circa 1920, each oil on board is set within its original carved giltwood and velvet-lined frame. The first composition captures a serene river scene with steep mountain cliffs and a small rowboat gliding across calm waters. The companion piece depicts a rustic countryside view with a windswept tree under a softly clouded sky. Both works are signed in the lower right corner by the artist, C. Jonnevold. The pair is executed with lively brushwork and subtle atmospheric tones, reflecting the artist’s sensitivity to light and natural form. The paintings are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and the ornate gilt frames exhibit a rich patinated finish with minor wear that enhances their antique character. A charming duo for collectors of 19th-century European landscapes. Carl Henrik Jonnevold 1856-1955, was born in Norway. Later in life he spent time in Europe, especially in Paris and Munich, studying works in galleries and absorbing the artistic currents of the time.
