Pair of French Antiqued Anduze Terracotta Garden Vases from Terre Figuière
$3,400
About
This impressive pair of French Anduze terracotta garden vases originates from Anduze, a historic pottery center celebrated since the 17th century for its iconic garden urns and planters. Crafted in glazed terracotta following traditional Anduze forms, each vase features a wide flared rim, tapering body, and stepped pedestal base, designed for strong architectural presence in garden, courtyard, or interior settings. The vases are finished with a deliberately antiqued surface, intended to evoke the appearance of historic Anduze examples. The softly variegated cream glaze is accented with expressive green splashes and drip effects, while raised garland motifs and incised banding provide classical relief and visual rhythm. Natural kiln variations, glaze pooling, and surface irregularities are inherent to the design and contribute to the convincingly aged aesthetic, rather than indicating age-related wear. Each vase bears the stamped mark “Terre Figuière – Anduze – France,” identifying them as works from Terre Figuière, a respected workshop known for continuing the region’s centuries-old ceramic traditions. The interiors are left unglazed, consistent with traditional planting vessels. Both vases are in very good condition, with surface character consistent with their intentional antiqued finish. Architectural and highly versatile, this pair of Anduze vases is ideal for flanking an entryway, anchoring a terrace, lining a garden path, or serving as sculptural accents in a conservatory or interior setting. Measures: 22.5″Diameter x 26″H
