About
Colorful French faience platter by HB Quimper, crafted in the early 20th century and measuring 18 inches wide by 13 inches high. This hand-painted earthenware piece features a shaped octagonal form with a bold border of scrolling cobalt blue motifs accented by panels of delicate red floral sprays. At the center, a lively village fountain scene depicts barefoot Breton women in traditional dress filling jugs, while musicians and children gather nearby, capturing the charm of rural life in Brittany. Marked on the reverse with the HB Quimper stamp and form number 468, this piece reflects the long-standing tradition of Quimper pottery. HB (La Grande Maison de la Hubaudière), established in the late 17th century, became one of the region’s most prominent faience manufacturers, celebrated for its vibrant colors, folkloric scenes, and distinctive Breton identity. A vivid and expressive decorative piece, perfect for French country interiors, collector walls, or traditional kitchen settings.
