19th Century Italian Baroque Revival Carved and Gilt Lectern or Book Stand

About
Place your Bible on this elegant antique book stand. Crafted in Italy in the late 19th century circa 1880, the sculptural lectern rests on bold scrolled back legs over a shaped and scalloped apron highlighted with a carved flower at the base. The front frame features richly hand carved motifs, including floral rosette medallions in each corner and layered leaf decoration along the sides. The pediment is topped with a carved foliage crest that enhances the expressive Baroque character of the piece. The stand retains its original two-tone polychromed and gilt finish with areas of natural paint wear consistent with age, adding warmth and authenticity to the surface. This Baroque Revival bookstand is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use and would serve beautifully for daily devotional reading. It could also be repurposed creatively as a vanity stand in a master bath by adding a small mirror to the front, bringing old-world Italian charm to any interior. Dimensions: W 16.75 x D 11.25 x H 18.5 inches
