This elegant pair of antique French armchairs was crafted in France circa 1860 and reflects the enduring influence of the Louis XIII tradition, with subtle early Louis XIV formality. Built of solid walnut, each chair features a tall, slightly arched upholstered back, a wide generous seat, and finely turned legs joined by a sturdy box stretcher. The scrolled open arms terminate in sculptural hand-shaped rests and are supported by turned baluster uprights, adding both visual strength and refined craftsmanship. The warm walnut frames retain a rich, time-earned patina, highlighting the depth and grain of the wood.
