18th Century French Louis XVI Provencal Giltwood Mirror with Lyre Crest

This elegant antique French mirror was crafted in Provence circa 1780 and reflects the refined neoclassical vocabulary of the Louis XVI period. The rectangular frame is crowned with a finely carved musical trophy featuring a central lyre beneath a laurel wreath, flanked by crossed torches and ribbon-tied elements, all symbols associated with enlightenment and classical harmony. The giltwood frame displays delicate beaded inner molding, carved laurel sprigs at the frieze, and fluted uprights terminating in small tapered feet. The composition is symmetrical and architectural, characteristic of late 18th century Louis XVI design.
