19th Century French Louis XV Style Walnut Coiffeuse Dressing Table with Mirror
$2,950
About
Elegant late 19th-century French Louis XV style coiffeuse (dressing table) crafted in richly figured walnut, circa 1880. The piece reflects the refined craftsmanship of the Louis XV Revival period, characterized by fluid lines, elaborate rocaille ornament, and graceful proportions. The serpentine-form case stands on slender cabriole legs terminating in delicate scroll feet and is richly adorned with finely carved acanthus leaves, shell motifs, and scrolling foliage. The apron and corners display deeply carved rocaille decoration, giving the piece a sculptural presence typical of the Louis XV aesthetic. The shaped dressing surface is veneered in beautifully matched walnut panels arranged in geometric patterns that highlight the natural grain of the wood. Small raised platforms with drawers flank the base of the mirror, providing storage for personal accessories. The central mirror is framed within a gracefully contoured surround and crowned by an elaborate pierced crest with richly carved foliate and shell ornament. Warm patinated walnut and exceptional carved detail make this piece both functional and decorative, ideal as a dressing table or elegant console for a bedroom, or dressing room. Dimensions: 39.5″W x 22.5″D x 72″H
