Decorate a console, or tabletop with this elegant antique bronze cache pot from France, crafted circa 1880. The richly detailed vessel features a tapered cylindrical form embellished with an ornate repoussé frieze of scrolling foliate and classical motifs encircling the upper band. The decoration is punctuated by four expressive lion masks, each holding a large ring handle in its mouth, lending the piece a strong Neoclassical presence.
The warm bronze surface has developed a beautifully aged patina over time, with subtle tonal variation that enhances the depth of the relief work. The interior retains a darker oxidized finish consistent with age and use. With its sculptural form and versatile scale, the vessel works beautifully as a cache pot, jardinière, wine cooler, waste basket, or a decorative centerpiece.
