Early 20th Century French Rouen Faience Wall Platter with Pierced Rim
$675
About
Decorate a kitchen wall with this colorful antique French faience platter. Crafted in Rouen circa 1920, the large oval dish features a richly scalloped and pierced border, hand painted in the traditional Rouen palette of cobalt blue, ochre, green, and iron red. The decorative rim is embellished with scrolling acanthus leaves and stylized foliate motifs, framing a central composition of delicate flowers rendered with fine brushwork.
The openwork border and shaped silhouette give the piece a strong decorative presence, while the vibrant glaze and lively hand-painted details reflect the enduring influence of 18th century Rouen designs reinterpreted in the early 20th century. The underside bears a Rouen mark and retains its hanging hardware, ready for wall display.
This antique platter is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use. A charming addition to a kitchen, breakfast room, or gallery wall, especially when grouped with other faience pieces. Hanging devise included.
Dimensions: 14″W x 11″D x 2″H.
