Pair of 18th Century Aubusson Tapestry Fragment and Passementerie Lumbar Pillows
$1,600
About
This elegant pair of decorative lumbar pillows is crafted with antique 18th Century French Aubusson tapestry fragments, circa 1780, beautifully repurposed into richly layered accent pillows. Each pillow features a central oval tapestry panel decorated with delicate floral motifs, framed by striped silk fabric in soft gold, green, coral, and muted rose tones.
The pillows are further embellished with velvet side panels, floral fabric accents, metallic braid trim, looped fringe, and elaborate tassel passementerie in warm gold, rust, and taupe shades. The backs are finished in a soft taupe velvet, allowing the pair to be displayed attractively from either side. Their elongated lumbar shape makes them especially versatile for a sofa, settee, bench, daybed, or layered bed arrangement.
Decorative and richly textured, this antique pair brings together historic Aubusson fragments with luxurious French-style trimming, creating a collected, old-world look with wonderful color and dimension. Wear, fading, minor pulls, and age-related imperfections are consistent with age and use.
