Early 20th C. French Wrought Iron and Brass Baker’s Rack with Glass Shelves
$5,400
About
This tall antique baker’s rack combines graceful French ironwork with warm brass accents and practical display space. Crafted in France circa 1930, the freestanding étagère is constructed of dark patinated wrought iron and features three spacious demilune glass shelves framed by rounded brass galleries.
The open framework is decorated throughout with hand-forged scrollwork, symmetrical curls, and delicate linear supports. At the center of the arched crest is a gilt metal wheat sheaf ornament, a fitting decorative motif for a traditional baker’s rack. Additional brass details include the front posts with turned finials, decorative connectors, and tubular shelf surrounds, creating an attractive contrast against the dark iron structure.
The three removable glass shelves provide generous space for displaying ceramics, serving pieces, plants, books, or decorative accessories. Its narrow depth and substantial height make the rack especially useful in a kitchen, breakfast room, dining room, garden room, or retail interior where vertical storage is desired without overwhelming the space.
The antique baker’s rack is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and patina to the iron and brass consistent with its age. The glass shelves are later addition..
