Pair of Mid-Century Italian Louis XVI Giltwood Musical Wall Trophies
$1,600
About
Celebrating music through classical ornamentation, this elegant pair of vintage wall trophies was designed in the Louis XVI tradition. Crafted in Italy circa 1970, each tall, narrow carving measures nearly three feet high and is crowned with the period’s characteristic ribbon-bow crest.
The pierced compositions feature finely detailed musical instruments arranged among leafy branches and scrolling foliage. Violins, flutes, horns, and sheet music overlap to create richly layered decorative displays, while carved ropetwist motifs complete the lower sections. The openwork construction gives the trophies a light, graceful appearance despite their generous height.
Both wall decorations retain a warm, patinated gilt finish that accentuates the carved details and provides appealing depth and character. Presented as a complementary pair with subtly varied musical arrangements, they are especially well suited for placement on either side of a large mantel, mirror, doorway, or architectural panel.
The trophies are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use.
Dimensions: Each measures 10.5″ W x 35.5″ H.
