Pair of Mid-Century French Hand-Painted Ceramic Floral Vases
$375
About
Add a charming French accent to a tabletop, mantel, or shelf with this colorful pair of vintage ceramic vases. Crafted in France circa 1960, each vase features a softly rounded, tapered form finished in a warm ivory-white glaze and accented along the upper rim with a dark brown border.
The bodies are hand-painted with loose floral bouquets in shades of rose pink, golden yellow, cobalt blue, and olive green. Delicate brown brushstrokes extend around the flowers, giving the decoration a light, spontaneous quality typical of mid-century studio ceramics. Each vase is individually painted, creating subtle variations between the two while maintaining a harmonious matched appearance.
Both pieces bear an artist’s signature near the lower portion of the body, although the signature is difficult to decipher, and impressed markings are visible underneath. With their understated form and cheerful floral decoration, the vases would display beautifully together or separately and are ideal for fresh flowers or simply as decorative objects.
The pair is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with minor surface wear and glaze irregularities consistent with hand-crafted ceramics.
