Pair Mid-Century French Rock Crystal and Rose Quartz Two-Light Wall Sconces
$8,600
About
Elegant and highly decorative, this pair of vintage wall sconces was crafted in France circa 1970. Inspired by the refined botanical lighting associated with Maison Baguès, each fixture is fashioned from silvered metal and designed as a graceful flowering branch rising from a carved rock crystal vase-form base.
The delicate metal stems are embellished throughout with individually carved rock crystal leaves and clear crystal flowers, creating a light, airy composition with wonderful movement. Two scrolling arms extend from either side and support candle-form lights set into carved rose quartz bobeches. Each arm is further accented with small rose quartz beads and a large faceted rose quartz teardrop pendant, introducing a soft pink color against the clear crystal and silvered metal.
The sconces retain an attractive aged patina to the metal, enhancing their vintage character. Their combination of rock crystal, rose quartz, and floral motifs gives the pair an especially elegant and romantic presence. Newly wired for use in the United States, each fixture has two lights with candle sleeve covers.
These striking wall lights would be particularly attractive flanking a mirror, fireplace, console, or bed, and would also make a refined addition to an entry, powder room, or dressing area. The pair is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use.
