About
Bring architectural presence and masterful craftsmanship to a dining room, library, or grand entry with this impressive antique French buffet cabinet. Crafted in France circa 1860 from solid oak, the substantial two-door cabinet is richly adorned with hand-carved Renaissance and Louis XIII inspired motifs throughout. The façade features deeply molded paneled doors centered with bold carved cartouches of scrolling acanthus foliage and oval bosses, framed by handsome barley twist columns resting over carved block feet.
The thick molded top is dressed with an intricate parquetry surface showcasing geometric inlaid patterns, adding refinement and visual movement to the robust form. The frieze is further embellished with finely carved scrolling foliage and decorative motifs, while paneled sides and extensive molding details demonstrate the exceptional quality of craftsmanship from every angle.
The interior opens to generous storage compartments fitted with three long shelves, ideal for storing serving pieces, linens, books, or collections. The cabinet retains its original iron hardware, lock, and two working keys. This antique French buffet is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich warm walnut-toned patina with beautiful depth and character throughout.
