19th Century, French Louis XV Carved Walnut Two-Door Buffet from Provence
This elegant, antique fruit wood sideboard was carved in Southern France, circa 1880. The Classic cabinet exemplifies the Louis XV style with a heavy presence, dramatic lines and intricate floral and foliage carvings throughout. The cabinet stands on front escargot feet over a scalloped apron heavily decorated with floral and rocaille motifs. The cabinet features two drawers with heavy forged iron handles and escutcheons over a pair of carved doors with foliage motifs, dressed with oversized iron hinges and openwork escutcheons, and opening to interior shelving. The scalloped top surface is the perfect place to display porcelain objects, frames, and more. The buffet is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a well-maintained rich walnut patina. Key included. Measures: 61.25″ W x 25.5″ D x 42.75″ H.
