About
Decorate a den, a game room or an entry with this richly carved antique buffet! Created in France, circa 1860, and built of oak, the cabinet sits on front bun feet over a carved recessed base plinth, and embellished with barley twist side columns extending to floral rosettes medallions at the top. The buffet with elongated corners on the surface and molded edges, features two side by side drawers across the front, dressed with hand carved branch form handles over double doors; each door panel is heavily carved, and features two medallions in high relief bounded with foliage decor around the edges; one medallion has a hunter’s satchel, trumpet, powder sack, gun, and a hat under the traditional Louis XVI ribbon bow, while the other features a water canteen, a farmer’s hat, supply bag, and a fishing net with the bow above it. The inside reveals a central shelf for ultimate storage. The Black Forest style buffet is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich light stripped oak finish, and exquisite detailed carvings. Place this elegantly carved cabinet in a hunting lodge, or a ranch house for the real outdoor feel. Key included. Measures: 52″W x 24.5″ D x 36.5″ H.
