18th Century French Louis XVI Carved Giltwood Wall Mirror from Provence

This elegant, antique gilt mirror would make a charming addition to an entryway or powder room. Crafted in Southern France, circa 1780, the rectangular mirror is heavily carved and exemplifies the design elements of the Rococo and Baroque style. The frame is decorated at the pediment with a carved basket of flowers flanked with floral and leaf motifs and both sides are embellished with carved laurel and acanthus leaf decor; it is further decorated with a blooming flower at the base. The provincial mirror features the original mercury glass and wood backing for structure. The ornate Louis XVI mirror is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use and adorns its original bright and patinated gold leaf finish. Hooks and wire on the back for easy handling and installation. Measures: 25″ W x 41.5″ H.
