19th C. French Gothic Revival Iron Corner Hall Stand in the Manner of Corneau
$3,200
About
Place this impressive antique corner hall stand in a grand entry, hunting lodge, or mountain retreat. Crafted in France circa 1870, the tall triangular corner form is designed specifically to fit neatly into an entryway angle while maintaining dramatic Gothic Revival architectural presence. Executed in heavy cast iron in the manner of Corneau Frères of Charleville, the structure is richly decorated with scrolling ivy, oak leaves, and acorn motifs. A central hunting trophy featuring a rabbit with crossed rifles anchors the composition, while sculpted hound heads project at the base corners, reinforcing the sporting theme. The upper section is crowned with a fleur-de-lis finial and fitted with its original mercury glass mirror, displaying light age spotting consistent with its period. Five integrated iron hooks provide ample space for coats and hats. A shaped wooden shelf offers functional surface space, and the circular enameled iron drip tray at the base was designed to hold umbrellas or walking sticks. The iron retains a deep, dark patina with beautiful natural distress, highlighting the crisp casting and intricate detail throughout. Very heavy and structurally sound, this antique French corner hall stand is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use. Dimensions: 36.5″W x 22″D x 77.5″H
