This antique French mirror was crafted circa 1880 in the refined Louis XVI style and features a tall, narrow giltwood frame with elegant neoclassical detailing. The composition is crowned by a circular medallion mirror framed with carved laurel leaves and a tied ribbon crest, evoking classical symbols of virtue and honor. The rectangular lower mirror is bordered by a beaded inner trim and flanked by carved corner accents resembling stylized tassels or draped fabric. The frame is finished in gold leaf with a warm, aged patina that highlights the hand-carved details and adds antique depth to the surface. The reverse retains its original wooden back with visible tool marks, consistent with 19th-century provincial construction.
