Rich in color and personality, this assembled set of three antique majolica pitchers offers a delightful collection of humorous character figures. Crafted in England and France circa 1890, the hand-painted ceramic jugs reflect the playful figural tradition popular during the late Victorian period.

The group includes a seated Sir John Falstaff pitcher bearing the impressed inscription “Sir John Falstaff, Royal Doulton England.” The celebrated Shakespearean character is portrayed with a jaunty hat, curled mustache, red costume, and a tankard held in each hand. Its two companions are French barbotine pitchers associated with the whimsical production of the Onnaing Faïencerie. One depicts a smiling gentleman in a broad yellow hat holding a bottle and red mug, while the other portrays an elegantly dressed seated figure wearing a floral-patterned jacket and green trousers.

Vivid glazes in red, cobalt blue, yellow, green, cream, and brown accentuate the deeply molded clothing, expressive faces, and integrated handles. Displayed together, the three pitchers create an engaging collection for a wet bar, kitchen, dining room, or majolica cabinet. All three are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use.
