19th Century French Bistro Guéridon Table with Mosaic Top and Iron Base
$1,975
About
Crafted in France circa 1840, this elegant antique guéridon features a circular marble and stone mosaic top set within a thick iron frame. The round surface is composed of hand-cut tesserae arranged in concentric rings in warm tones of ochre, cream, rust, and deep brown, centered by a larger irregular marble medallion. The richly colored mosaic creates a lively geometric pattern while the timeworn surface displays minor wear consistent with its 19th century origins, enhancing its authentic antique character. The heavy top is supported by a slender turned iron pedestal raised on an ornate cast iron tripod base with scrolled Rocaille legs terminating in stylized pad feet. Subtle gilt highlights remain along the raised decorative elements, contrasting beautifully with the deep dark patina developed over time. Originally designed for intimate salon or café settings, this versatile antique guéridon can also be used outdoors on a covered patio, terrace, or garden loggia thanks to its durable iron construction and marble mosaic top. It would work beautifully between a pair of chairs, or as a charming bistro table. The piece is very solid and heavy for its size, weighing approximately 83 pounds. Excellent condition commensurate with age and use. Dimensions: 22.5″ Diameter x 28″H.
