Place this elegant antique inkwell in a man’s office or study. Created in France, circa 1880, and built of spelter, the desk accessory sits on five small delicate curved feet, decorated with acanthus leaves, over a scalloped apron embellished with floral and foliage decor in high relief. the inkwell features a proud chanticleer figure standing on a mount flanked with two round ink holders and lids, and embellished with foliage decor; both ink holders are further dressed with their original glass containers. The piece is signed on the back, A. Bossu. The inkwell with rooster, symbol of France, is in excellent condition, and adorns a rich patinated finish with gilt accents. It would make a useful addition to a desk or writing table. Measures: 11″ W x 7″ D x 7″ H.
