19th Century French Hand Painted Ceramic Barbotine Wild Boar Pitcher
$550
About
Porcelain collectors will love this colorful, Majolica water pitcher in the shape of a wild boar. Sculpted in France, circa 1890, the artful ceramic jug features a boar sculpture wearing a bib emblazoned with the words “Tout En Est Bon” (all is well!). On either side, the vase shows a vignette in relief with a laurel leaf border and a man in a hat. The antique pitcher is in very good condition commensurate with age and use. The vase has a painterly, watercolor style and is painted in neutral earth tones, including brow, yellow and green. This sculptural pitcher is featured in the book “Pichets en Barbotine” by Maryse Bottero page 162. (See last pictures). (Complete)
