Full of character and old-world charm, this antique miniature travel trunk combines the craftsmanship of traditional French luggage with the practical function of a decorative jewelry box. Crafted in France circa 1890, the rectangular chest is constructed of solid poplar wood and features a rich honey-brown patina accented with iron, brass, and leather fittings.

The petite trunk is finished on all five exposed sides, including the hinged top, and reinforced with decorative iron corner mounts, brass brackets, and riveted leather and metal straps. A sturdy leather carrying handle is fitted to the lid, while the sides are equipped with forged iron handles for easy transport. The front features a brass lock plate with its original working key, adding to the authentic character of this charming travel accessory.

Opening the hinged lid reveals a spacious storage compartment that has been completely reupholstered in vibrant red velvet fabric. The rich interior contrasts beautifully with the warm wood exterior and provides a soft, protective surface for storing jewelry, watches, keepsakes, or other personal treasures. Fabric retaining straps support the lid when opened.

The antique trunk is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, retaining its original hardware, attractive wood grain, and beautifully aged patina.
