19th Century French Brass Lavabo Fountain on Carved Oak Wall Panel

About
Bring authentic French provincial character into a kitchen, powder room, or garden room with this striking antique wall-mounted lavabo fountain from Normandy, crafted circa 1860. Originally used in country homes and sacristies for ceremonial or practical handwashing, the piece now serves beautifully as a decorative architectural accent or unique wall planter.
The two-part composition is mounted on its original hand-carved oak backboard, richly detailed with molded and raised geometric motifs typical of Norman craftsmanship. The upper brass reservoir features a softly rounded rectangular form topped with a fitted lid crowned by elegant finials, and is fitted underneath with dual brass spouts designed to feed water into the basin below. The lower demi-lune basin is flanked by rounded side handles and rests on a dramatic pointed oak support, giving the piece strong vertical presence and sculptural appeal.
The warm satin brass contrasts beautifully against the deep time-darkened oak, creating a refined yet rustic aesthetic that works equally well in traditional or curated modern interiors. Filled with trailing greenery, dried flowers, or seasonal arrangements, this antique lavabo becomes an exceptional decorative focal point.
The wall fountain is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich dark oak patina with a warm, beautifully aged brass finish.
