This antique paper binding press was forged in France, circa 1870. The Classic “Presse a Relier” made of solid iron is almost square in shape with scalloped edges, and features scrolled motifs on the facade, and the top is connected to the manual screw controlled by a wide top double-handle. This heavy tool is in excellent working order, and adorns a rich patinated black painted finish with gilt accent. Decorate a shelf in a study or library with this wonderful accessory! In the old days, this kind of “Presses a Papier” were used to press the book’s sheets together before receiving a bookbinding. Measures: 15″ W x 14″ D x 13.5″ H.
