Early 20th Century French Art Populaire Carved Walnut Tray Table with Glass Top

$1,200

About

Behold, the timeless elegance of this exquisite “art populaire” tray, perfect for transporting dishes to your table with grace and style. Hand carved in Britanny, France circa 1920, this wonderful “art nouveau” artwork boasts a mesmerizing hand-carved scene featuring a pipe-smoking man leading two sturdy oxen, gracefully pulling a cart laden with an abundance of goods through rolling hills. As you marvel at this scene, your eyes will delight in the delicate details of a charming house, peeking just over the horizon, complete with a smoking chimney that adds an air of realism to this rustic countryside scene. Adding to its allure, this remarkable piece boasts a glass pane, thoughtfully placed to protect the delicate hand carved work while granting you the joy of using it to serve and showcase culinary delights. Two handles, thoughtfully incorporated into the design for easy and graceful transport from kitchen to table. The serving platter has a wonderful rich walnut patina and it is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use. Measures: 18.25″W x 13.75″D x 2.5″H
