Rich in religious symbolism and Old Master character, this large-scale oil painting portrays Saint Rose of Lima in an idyllic pastoral setting. Created in France circa 1960, the vertical canvas is presented in an ornate carved and silvered wood frame accented with narrow black borders.

The Peruvian-born Dominican tertiary is depicted seated beneath mature trees, wearing flowing robes in shades of gold, cream, and deep brown. A crown of roses—her most recognizable attribute—identifies the saint, while the grapes, fruit, flowers, and wheat surrounding her symbolize spiritual abundance, charity, fertility, and divine blessing. She is accompanied by playful winged cherubs, one presenting a delicate garland of flowers and another carrying a sheaf of wheat.

Saint Rose of Lima (1586–1617) was celebrated for her profound religious devotion, care for the poor, and life of prayer and penance. Canonized in 1671, she became the first saint born in the Americas and is the patron saint of Peru and Latin America.

The luminous landscape, idealized figures, saturated palette, and theatrical composition recall the grandeur of 17th- and 18th-century European religious painting. The canvas is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, retaining vivid and harmonious colors throughout.
